What was your goal when you originally signed up?

I didn’t really have a set goal going into CrossFit. You could say, my wife, Jess, nudged me a little to try it out with her. I was hesitant at first because you hear all of the cliche’s and negativity surrounding CrossFit. That was quickly debunked and I was hooked. After doing a couple of classes I realized how out of shape I let myself get and that was a real eye-opener. So you are telling me that I cant jump back into working out after taking many years off?? I did all of the high school sports stuff, a little of intermural sports in college, and enjoyed outdoor sports. I have a competitive nature but just needed a nudge. The team atmosphere along with great enthusiasm and coaching, I found myself striving to keep pushing myself. One goal was to do pull-ups without bands, another was a PR on deadlift, and from there it turned into having faster times on benchmark WODs.

How did you originally hear about us?

I am not one to walk into a gym and start working out by myself. I like to be pushed and throw in a little friendly competition. Crossfit, to me, seemed to have the best combination of cardio, strength, gymnastics, and mobility so we gave it a shot. Jess and I tried a couple of CrossFit gyms around town and decided on Steadfast. What sold us on Steadfast was the friendly atmosphere (didn’t feel awkward at all) paired with welcoming/professional attitudes of Brian and Sabrina.

What prompted you to seek us out?

The common denominator in this is Jess… She trained while in college but wanted more of a challenge. At this time, I was just running and doing the occasional push-ups and sit-ups. I started to get bored with this routine and wanted to try something different as well. Two people with a common goal can accomplish many things. We were both set on trying CrossFit.

How do you feel about your future?

I have hit a point where this is now a part of my life and I really enjoy going. I don’t go as often as I would like due to me traveling for work, but when I’m in town I make it a point to go. To be completely honest, there are many areas where I need to improve and I need to make these things a priority. I am not out there every day trying to hit a strength PR because that’s not my goal. My goal is to be healthy and fit. I have learned so much through this gym be it mentally, physically, certain life choices and habits.

What have you liked best about working with us?

The coaches do a great job harping on technique. They push the right amount and make sure you are doing everything properly. Each day is different and the programming keeps things interesting and intriguing.  The team atmosphere at Steadfast is the thing that sets it apart. I have met so many good people at this gym and everyone is accepting of one another. Brian and Sabrina have done a great job building a family atmosphere at Steadfast.

What would you say to anyone else who might be interested in starting at SteadFast?

Just do it! Thinking about going is the first step. Now commit to a better/healthier you. I was a firm believer in all of the negativity around CrossFit and if I can do it, so can you. There is no pressure, no shaming, no judging. Everyone here is on your team and you will quickly realize it. Everyone likes to see the positive progression and there is no doubt you will see positive results. Better mobility, strength, sleep, energy, and a better overall attitude. I know CrossFit isn’t for everyone but it doesn’t hurt to try!
