What was your goal when you originally signed up?
My goal when I originally signed up was to keep my basic fitness and wellbeing at a more constant level as I age. So many people consider getting old as an excuse for feeling old, but I dispute that. There’s no reason why aging should be a downward spiral so my goal is to be as fit, mobile and healthy as I possibly can be as I age. So far, so good!
How did you originally hear about us?
When Dawn Cameron and I arrived in Savannah in 2015, we knew we had to find a home box. We tried another box closer to Thunderbolt Marine where the yacht we were working on was docked. After a month there, we knew we had to try the other box (SteadFast) as we weren’t happy where we were at. One of our coaches from our Ft. Lauderdale box suggested SteadFast, so we turned up and gave it a try. We never looked back. We found good coaching, a challenging program and enthusiastic, welcoming and spirited members.
What prompted you to seek us out?
I have a job which takes me away from home for periods of time, but I know when I next walk through the doors at SteadFast, I will be welcomed back as if I had never left. That makes me feel really good. Looking forward, I want to improve my technique and skills and if by doing that, if I pick up some PR’s, great, but that is not the focus. Getting better as an athlete, focusing on full motion and mobility and staying injury free are my goals. I also know that I have to keep my nutrition on point. Eating healthy is essential in order to fully capitalize on the benefits of CrossFit, especially as you get older.
What have you liked best about working with us?
Before moving to Savannah, I knew one person in town, another yacht captain whom I hardly ever see. I now have a bunch of friends here and that wouldn’t have happened if not for SteadFast. I can say that my technique, fitness level, and mobility have all benefitted over the last two years. I’m more or less injury free, although sometimes stiff and sore from some of Brian’s WOD’s, but those feelings pass, leaving the knowledge that the pain was worth it.
What would you say to anyone else who might be interested in starting at SteadFast?
To anyone looking at joining a CrossFit box, it’s a personal choice, but in my experience, SteadFast ticks all the boxes. That old saying that you have to be fit before you start CrossFit is completely wrong, but you will be fitter after joining SteadFast! Couple that with some nutrition advise and you can’t go wrong.
