Roughly ten years ago Brian and I started our journey at CrossFit Beaumont in Texas. We loved everything about the less than 1000 sq ft spot our coach Neil Riley had. This is where we learned lots of new lingo, movement patterns, and what being part of a CrossFit community really meant. A couple years in we were both coaching at different locations Neil had opened and fell even more in love with it. About seven and a half or eight years ago Brian and I decided we wanted to open a Gym of our own.

When we finally decided to make it happen we sat down, closed our eyes, and pointed to a few spots on the map. Savannah is what we both agreed would be the best out of those choices and took a road trip to check it all out. Our location was not listed, but our realtor Lori Judge has just come across some warehouse space and figured she would show us. I was not sold on the previous meat packaging 1000 ft space with a giant walk in freezer is a sketchy part of town, but Brian 150% was. We went home to Texas and a couple of weeks later we signed our lease.

When we arrived in Savannah a week before opening we only knew Lori and our landlords. We hustled our asses off. We talked to any and everyone everywhere we went. We gave away two weeks free because not a lot of people had heard of CrossFit then. We worked out with any class that only had one person in it and believe me there was a lot of those in the early days.

God took care of us. We were not and honestly still are not the greatest business people. He put people in our lives that we needed to learn from, to feed us (literally), and to help us make connections.

Entrepreneurship is no joke. There have been times when we wanted to throw in the towel because it was just too much. Then the magic happens. That one person gets over a fear and into a handstand for the first time and you see their face light up like a child that just learned something new and fun. That one person rings the personal record bell so hard you can here it down the street. That one person tells you that what you have created changed their whole life and saved their marriage. That one person goes from an introvert without much athletic background to the person people gravitate toward and a shining example in the gym. Those people turn into a whole family of something way more than just working out. The friendships, relationships, and connection to each other is magical.

We say it each year, but we appreciate each and every one of you. We thank you for continuing to show up and give it everything you have each day. We thank you for wanting to feel good and stay active as you age. We thank you for trusting us with your goals and with believing us when we say just try. We thank our coaches for wanting to be a part of something bigger in your lives as well. We couldn’t do it without you guys. The passion that is shown from you guys makes our hearts full. Thank you all for being examples for our children. You guys have no idea how impactful you already are in their lives.

This past week we decided to give the gym a little facelift. After working with Joe D we really wanted SteadFast to be a feeling when you walk in. The purple, grey and black definitely represent SteadFast and we love the new look. We want to give huge shout outs to all of you that took time out of your lives to come assist in making it all happen in two days. We could not have done it without you.

Seven years ago today we opened our doors nervous as hell that no one would show up. Luckily Andrew and Amy did!! We have seen a lot of people come and go and come back again since then. We have been blessed with some of the best friends we could ever ask for and we are so excited to continue this amazing journey with you all. I could go on and on, but Brian said you guys hear me talk enough!

Happy Anniversary SteadFast!!
